The automatic gates are designed in a way that they can be opened and closed at the press of a button. It is only possible for one to have such type of gate if they have a continuous supply of power. An individual who wants to close such a gate should switch of the power switch. This introduces a gap in the circuit hence interfering with flow of current. When power supply to the soft iron core is terminated, the core is demagnetized or losses its magnetic properties because the source of magnetic effects no longer exists. A return spring pulls away a certain metal substance which came into contact with the iron core due to attraction by a magnet.
The effect of return spring is amplified by the lever system. This amplified force pulls the gate back to its position and this affects the closure of the gate.
